The diagnostic test consists in detecting the presence of DNA of a protozoan Toxoplasma gondii causing toxoplasmosis. This pathogen may be transferred in the tick body.
In Poland, it is estimated that 50%-70% of people in the entire population are infected with this pathogen. The infection is mostly asymptomatic, it may develop, among others, because of eating raw or semi-raw meat, during work with infectious material. Toxoplasma gondii infection is particularly dangerous for a pregnant women.
Depending on the pregnancy trimester, it may end up with a miscarriage, premature birth or damages to internal organs of a fetus. Serious health disorders may come up in case of reducing organism's immunity because of AIDS, neoplasm or immunosuppressant treatment.

Transfer method: Put a tick on a wet cosmetic petal, pack it in a plastic wrap or a tight bag (preferably stringed bag)
