The test allows to detect IgM and/ or IgG class antibodies specific for Chlamydia pneumoniae. Chlamydia pneumoniae is an etiology factor for infections of respiratory tracts, mainly in case of children. The presence of C. pneumonia has a world-wide aspect and it is a pathogen specific exclusively for humans.
Most of the infections have an asymptomatic form or a benign form. A positive test result indicates the presence of antibodies directed against Chlamydia pneumoniae in a relevant class of antibodies.
