The test consists in detecting in plasma antibodies IgM and/ or IgG specific for Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Echrlichia chaffeensis simultaneously, with the use of indirect immunofluorescence method. A. phagocytophilum is a blood parasite (it attacks granulocytes), which causes human granulocytic anaplasmosis. A positive test result indicates the presence of antibodies directed against Anaplasma phagocytophilum in a relevant class of antibodies.
