Genetic variants of CYP1B1 gene condition genetic predisposition for breast cancer, colorectal cancer, urinary bladder carcinoma, lung cancer and larynx cancer.Homozygouscarriage of mutations 142G/G, 355T/T, 4326C/C within gene CYP1B1 increases by ca. 2-fold the risk of developing breast cancer.
Influence of the carriage on cancer development is connected with the environment factors, such as tobacco smoking in case of a lung cancer and neoplasm of head and neck or getting infected with virus HPV in case of the uterine bladder carcinoma. That is why thanks to identifying inherited variants of CYP1/B1 gene it is possible to adopt appropriate prophylaxis.
